Scott County Deputy CIO Perry Mulcrone went to Lucky Linda's Body Art to get his arm decorated in Google's St. Patrick's Day logo. He has pledged to get a real Google tattoo if the Internet giant picks Scott County as a test site for high-speed fiber.
The Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce is rejuvenating, as evidenced by a recent e-mail to its membership, titled "For Dedicated Eyes Only." It said:
"Chamber Members,
"Here are the top things you need to know:
"... This year we have a MISSION and it is going to take all of us, there is a great book that says you reap what you sow. The Chamber is an organization driven by the membership and when we come together we ALL benefit. That being said there are several volunteer opportunities for the upcoming Bike tour and Art Festival and an all NEW event that is nothing like Jordan has ever seen ... more to come on that later.
"... Watch the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXMN8N5nmyM.
"... And lastly know that you all serve a vital role in our community and our future, thank you for serving it well."

With the permission of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jordan, I gave myself a self-tour of the historic building's tower. It's five stories high with three bells. Years ago, the brothers stood in the entryway of the church, pulling with all their might, as parishioners flooded into each mass. For a few years, the bells have been fully electronic, but a recent project much improved them and ensured that they will ring throughout each day.
See my photos of the bell tower here: http://www.jordannews.com/news/church/church-bells-ring-again-slideshow-....

A couple of videos from the last Jordan City Council workshop, which included discussion of a Sand Creek Township gravel pit:
The Scott County Association for Leadership and Efficiency (SCALE) facility, located north of Jordan in Sand Creek Township, recently installed a new driving simulator. The simulator is geared to public safety and public works drivers who want or need to get a little extra practice behind the wheel without endangering themselves, others, or their vehicles. Watch the video below to see what it's like.
