School board reorganizes

The Jordan School Board held its first meeting of 2008 Monday, and the first order of business was to set the board officers and reorganize the board.

Dan Buresh was selected as the board chairman, replacing Ira Beckman. Jim Donna was named the vice chairman. Tammy will was named as the board clerk, replacing Bob Vollbrecht. Deb Pauly was named as the treasurer, Will’s previous position.

The Carver-Scott Educational Cooperative is in a similar predicament to Jordan – replacing its top administrator.

The cooperative will use its next meeting to discuss its next step in the hiring process, Jordan School Board member Tammy Will said.

Will is the district’s representative on the Carver-Scott board.



Board members give personal introductions

During their first meeting of the new year – and the first meeting with Sheila Bauer as an elected official – the members of the Jordan School Board took some time to introduce themselves to their fellow members and to the public through the video camera.

Joe Benko asked for the introductions, and he started things off.

He is a retired educator who drives a school bus for the district, which offers him a fun chance to get to know the kids and to get to know the district better.

Jim Donna and his family moved to Sand Creek Township in 1978.



Newly elected members take oaths of office

Two newly elected members of the Jordan School Board took their oaths of office at the board’s first meeting Monday night.

Sheila Bauer and Tammy Will swore in as members of the board through 2011. Bauer is new to the board, while Will is beginning her third term.

Scott Erickson, the third board member elected during the November election, was not at the meeting. He will be sworn in at the next school board meeting, Superintendent Larry Kauzlarich said.
