After Dave and Pat Siwek's great-great-grandfather Joe founded Siwek Lumber in 1933, the two have been participants in the family business.
In the 1920s, Joe Siwek traveled to America from Poland with his mother and sister in order to meet up with his father, who was already living in Minneapolis. After Joe married Francis, the couple founded Siwek Lumber.

David and Melinda Morales' surname originates from the Spanish heritage, but much more culture lies behind the name. Hawaiian, Mexican, and Canadian cultures also make up the Morales family.
The couple has four children who are one-fourth Canadian, one-fourth Hawaiian and one-half Mexican: Hector, Melinda, Mark, and Michael. The Morales family has been living in Jordan for 13 years and embraces their culture by incorporating traditions from their heritage into their home.

The name Dean might be a familiar one – that is, if you ever knew Earl and Marie Dean, longtime residents of Jordan.
Earl can remember seeing one entire wall of his aunt’s home devoted to his ancestry. From that display, he first learned of his German and Danish heritage.
He learned that he is a descendant of one of the men whom came to the new world on the Mayflower, Richard Warren.
If a whole lot of talk is any measure of an election – and it usually is – expect a wild one this year.
Credit the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce and the Scott County Historical Society with paying close attention.
Between the two organizations, all four of the most interesting local election races will have candidate forums. The first one is next Thursday.
