Man charged for allegedly torturing dog (and other happenings in and around New Prague)April 26, 2008 - 1:15am — Mathias BadenHere's what's been going on in and around New Prague lately, according to the New Prague Times: - About a week ago, Rice County District Court charged Anton Steven Metzenhuber, 34, of New Prague with torture of an animal in the death of this neighbor's dog. Buddy, a miniature beagle, had been missing since April 6 and was found in a channel between Cody-Phelps Lake near Lonsdale. A concrete block was tied to the animal. Two weeks ago, the Times reported that the dog was mysteriously drowned and asked for readers' help in solving the case. Tapes to be included in Pudwill evidenceApril 24, 2008 - 11:59am — BrandonOver two years of videos could be evidence in the trial of former Jordan police officer Corey Pudwill. Pudwill and his lawyer Paul Engh were in court this morning to hear the judges decision on whether or not two years’ worth of tapes from Pudwill’s squad car were admissible as evidence in the case. Pudwill is charged with criminal sexual conduct after a traffic stop during which a woman alleges he ordered her into the back of his squad car and touched the bra under her sweater. Fahey's order says that the city of Jordan can, by law, condemn land from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, because the city plans to construct sidewalks and a stoplight -- not a road -- on the property. Pudwill is facing charges of sexual criminal misconduct that arose after a traffic stop in Jordan. This was the third motion hearing scheduled in the past year. After the most recent motion hearing in February, Pudwill's lawyer, Paul Engh, said he had asked to move the motion hearing to a later date because he had not yet received all the information he requested from the prosecution. |
