Alers open on Saturday

The Jordan Alers kick off their 2008 season this Saturday
afternoon in Webster against the Kats at 4:00.
After a 5-10 league and 8-13 overall record last year on a rebuilding season
Duane Gaulke takes the managing reins for his 29th year.  A few changes have been made going into this
year with second year slugger Brent Gorake pulling the strings as the new Coach
for the Alers. With 13 home games on the schedule the mini-met is sure to be


St. Benedict’s splits games

The St. Benedict Saints split their two league games this
weekend, rallying from a four run ninth inning deficit in the slop on Saturday
to beat Prior Lake,
and getting trounced in Veseli on Sunday 15-1.

Versus Prior Lake,
the offense sputtered in the steady mist managing only six hits.  Starting
pitcher Joe Lucas kept his team in the game and left after seven strong innings


Boy grabs Triple Crown

The True Team format in track and field is to find the best
team, not the best individual.

Unfortunately for Jordan,
they didn’t have the best team at the Section 4AA True Team track meet on
Tuesday, May at Holy Family. The girls team finished ninth, and the boys
finished seventh.


Dietel makes her decision

Jordan
junior Leah Dietel has made a decision about her future.

Dietel committed to play basketball for the South Dakota State
University Jackrabbits in Brookings, S. D.

“I really liked the coaches a lot, and they have a great group
of girls,” she said.


PERFECTION

T.J. Oakes is a member of a very exclusive club in the history
of Jordan Hubmen baseball.

Oakes became only the third Hubmen pitcher to throw a perfect
game on Wednesday, May 7, when he blanked Montgomery-Lonsdale 8-0. It was only
15th no-hitter in Hubmen history.

He joins Terry Glynn, who did it on May 8, 1984, against Le Center, Joe Deutsch, who did it on
May 27, 1988, against
Shattuck-St. Mary’s.


Jaguars finish second in conference

The Jordan
girls golf team and Erin Zahler both finished second in the Minnesota River
Conference.

Both Zahler and the Jaguars wrapped up second place on Monday at
Valley View Golf Club in Belle Plaine in the final Minnesota Rive Conference
tournament.

As a team, the Jaguars shot a 425 to finish second in the
tournament. Holy Family shot a 394 to win the tournament and clinch the MRC
title.


Jaguars get by Delano

The Jordan
softball team improved to 14-1 on the season with a stunning come-from-behind
victory over Delano on Friday, May
9.

The Jaguars trailed 6-0 after two
innings but fought back to tie the game at 7-7 and eventually won it in the
eighth.

Mini Met hosts doubleheader

Today at 4 p.m. the Mini Met will host a doubleheader between the Jordan Hubmen and Norwood-Young America.


Brewers sweep the weekend

It was a perfect weekend for the Jordan Brewers.

The Brewers won all three games this past weekend and improved
their record to 4-0 on the season.

On Friday night, the Brewers crushed St. Michael 9-1 at the Mini
Met.

Adam Hoffman and Trent Simek had two RBIs while Jeremy Negen,
Cullen Bahn, Paul Buss, Kirk Hogendorf drove in single runs.

Trent Bohnsack pitched seven innings giving up zero runs on only
three hits while striking out 10.
