Shakopee Community Education will be having a benefit dance from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at the Shakopee Junior High School (the former senior high).
The benefit dance will include live swing music performed by a Jordan band, the Lounge Cats. A sit-down dinner will also be provided.
“My goal was to provide a community service project along with having a dance for our adults in the community,” said Cindy Justice, adult programs coordinator for Shakopee
Community Education.
For those who don’t know how to swing dance, there will be dancers there to help.
Partial proceeds will go toward purchasing a swing for the Friendship Manor Nursing Home.
“We have capacity for 250 participants and would need about 100 in order to provide enough funds for a swing,” said Justice. “We are hoping that this event will be successful so we can do something like this each year, to reach out to our community and provide something for them.”
The registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 28. The $15 fee includes dinner. For more information and to register, contact Cindy
Justice at 952-496-5031 or cjustice@shakopee.k12.mn.us.
