State PoliticsDemocrats take senate seat, gain veto-proof majorityJanuary 3, 2008 - 10:18pm — sfieckeDemocrats won a major power struggle in the state by taking control of the Senate Seat in District 25 on Thursday. Northfield teacher Kevin Dahle won the special election by 55 percent, ahead of former Republican state representative Ray Cox's 42 percent. Independence Party candidate Vance Norgaard came in third with 2 percent. Given the substantial support for the provision, neighboring state senators Kevin Dahle and Claire Robling were not happy when the proposal was pulled from a transportation policy bill this week. The council authorized spending up to $7,500 to complete turning movement counts, analyze data, and prepare a presentation to be given during an eventual public meeting. |
