An upgraded Field 2 contrasts with the old Jordan High School baseball field just as Target Field contrasts with the Metrodome.
“It’s going to be, in essence, like the Twins going from the Dome to the new field – a tremendous upgrade,” baseball coach Brent Goracke said.
Bowlers will descend on Shakopee next week in the hope of striking out a rare disease.
Todd and Julie Buckner of Shakopee are sponsoring “Pinning Down a Cure for HLH” in honor of their daughter, Abigail, who died from hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) in February 2009. The fundraiser features bowling and silent auction from noon to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7 at Louisville Lanes in Shakopee.
HLH is a rare disorder of the immune system, primarily affecting young infants and children.

Youth younger than 16 must obtain a free license to hunt small game this fall, according to
the DNR.
Although the license is free, it is subject to a nominal vendor service charge.
The new license requirement, mandated by the Legislature in 2008, affects a number of popular game species including squirrel, rabbit, grouse, pheasant and waterfowl.
Youth also must satisfy all requirements related to hunter education and firearms safety.
The small game season opens Saturday, Sept. 18.
The Jordan American Legion baseball team qualified for the Division II state tournament by defeating Belle Plaine in the Third District tournament.
Post No. 3 will play in the Division II state tournament this weekend in Dilworth, Minn.

On Monday, earth started moving on the new ballpark on Jordan Public Schools property along Hope Avenue. Field 2 will be revamped by a consortium of Jordan area residents, businesses, teams and nonprofit organizations, with the hopes of it becoming a much more respectable playing surface, like the city’s pride and joy, the Mini-Met ballpark in downtown Jordan. On Monday, work began on Field 2, Jordan's new ballpark.
Participants in the project gathered on Tuesday to tout the cooperation that is going into the reconstruction of the ballfield, which will be akin to the Mini-Met when all is said and done.
Fund-raising in the amount of $100,000 or more is projected.

Post No. 3 takes on Belle Plaine at noon on Saturday. If they win, they advance to the championship game on Sunday.
