Here's what's been going on in and around New Prague lately, according to the New Prague Times:
- Read Like the Dickens held a fund-raiser 5K run at Elko Speedway in Elko New Market. There was also a children's 1K race. Proceeds from the event went to support the Elko New Market library. Read Like the Dickens is an organization that promotes and supports youth reading programs.
- Elko remained undefeated in Dakota-Rice-Scott League town baseball, according to the June 26 issue of the Times.
St. Benedict continued to play well -- the newspaper gave credit to
Aaron Langsweirdt, Scott Eischens, Brad Lawson, Joe Lucas, Mark Trapp,
Adam McMahon, Dave Sherry, and Jacob Lucas.
- GreenCare for Troops is a nonprofit, national program to help military families care for their lawns. It is based in New Prague. For more information, call 952-758-9135.
- Bob Scripture, activities director at New Prague High School, is stepping down after 27 years in the position.
- Generations Theatre presented "Go, Dog. Go!" last month at the New Prague Middle School auditorium.
- The Lonsdale schoolhouse is 100 years old. An ice cream social marked the occasion of the school's anniversary.
