Here's what's been going on in and around New Prague lately, according to the New Prague Times:
- Minnesota Pipe Line Co. began local work on a $300 million project, part of which crosses southern Scott County. Crews were in the New Prague area, and grading has been completed near Belle Plaine, the Times reported June 12.
- Candidates for city administrator were scheduled to meet yesterday and today with the New Prague City Council, which is interviewing for the position that will open by July.
- Amanda Johnson of New Prague, a fifth-grader at Raven Stream Elementary School, finished as one of four runners-up in an essay contest that earned her and her family tickets to a Minnesota Twins game.
- New Prague High School's Drew Feuk won first place in the 110-meter hurdles at the state track meet.
- New Prague City Administrator Jerry Bohnsack asked the city council to entertain the idea of hiring a wastewater treatment operations manager. Construction on a new treatment facility is scheduled to start late this year or in early 2009.
- The community pool holds open swimming from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily, wather permitting. It is located along Lexington Avenue South in New Prague. Swimming lessons began this week.
