I'm trying something new with the Minnesota Twins.
My interest in baseball has gotten me into trouble at times with my lovely wife. And that trouble has drawn to my attention to the fact that I am obsessed with Twins baseball.
It's not healthy.
As much as I love going to every game, watching or listening to the rest of them, writing a blog about them, and reading about the team in the newspapers and online every day, that can be a little crazy. A fella can get to the point at which he virtually lives or dies with his team. His attitude might change based on the outcome of the game.
That is not good for me.
So for my own good, and thanks very much to my wife, I'm turning over a new leaf. (The result of which might be a little less blogging about the team.) I've resolved to only follow the team when it is playing at home. And I'm not going to feel obligated to use my season tickets -- I will only attend the games that I want to go to.
If it's nice outside and I'd really rather be picnicking, I will do that.
If it's nice outside and I really just want to see an indoor baseball game, then who cares about the weather? I'm going to the game.
When the team is on the road, I'll be doing something besides paying attention to the Twins radio broadcast.
It's just too busy a life being obsessed with something so frivolous -- albeit enjoyable, wonderful, beautiful, and many other good adjectives -- as baseball. I'm going to enjoy life, and, of course, I'm going to enjoy baseball.
I can do that without going overboard.
