Alers open on Saturday

The Jordan Alers kick off their 2008 season this Saturday
afternoon in Webster against the Kats at 4:00.
After a 5-10 league and 8-13 overall record last year on a rebuilding season
Duane Gaulke takes the managing reins for his 29th year.  A few changes have been made going into this
year with second year slugger Brent Gorake pulling the strings as the new Coach
for the Alers. With 13 home games on the schedule the mini-met is sure to be
buzzing as the locals vie for the River Valley League title this season.  Besides Gorake, the team will be bringing
back almost the entire team from last season including Barry Crater, Mike
Otteson, Charlie Jacobson, Dan Kreuser and the pitching staff of Brad
Busch and Chris Beaner. 
New faces will also be making there presence with a new year. 

Last years leaders were Gorake .571, Crater .436 batting
and  Busch and Beaner pitching at .154
and 4.54.  The team batted .279 and
opponents only hit .213 against Jordan
pitching.  The Alers first home game is
Wednesday May 21 against the Webster Rookies. 
Come join the Alers in their 29 year of baseball in the finest park in
the state.
