I’m not a huge fan of the NBA, although I would consider myself a big fan of NBA playoff basketball. The regular season, with so many games, just gets so long. And one player can routinely win a game for his team. But the playoffs are more like a chess match with each team given up to seven games to figure out how to beat the guys on the other side of the floor.
So I’ve been following this year’s playoffs since they started last month. My favorite horse is in the race – I’ve always been a fan of the San Antonio Spurs. But I think this year I’m hoping for a new champion – the Boston Celtics. Not only would it be great to see the Celts back on top of the NBA (I was raised as a Larry Bird fan), but it would be even better to see Kevin Garnett win his first title. Even though he left the Wolves, I still have respect for him as a player and star.
Do you watch playoff professional basketball? For which team are you cheering?
