If a recreational lake can have a grand opening, that's what the Mill Pond will get on Wednesday.
Jordan Mayor Ron Jabs said the city plans to "make a splash" while the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources restocks the Lagoon Park pond with bluegill, crappie, and bass. "Let's party a little bit."
The city spent $838,000 to drain and dredge the pond that city officials often call the jewel of Jordan. With a wet spring, it filled up on its own. A healthier look, more fish, a refurbished beach, a fishing pier (which won't be installed until next year), fishing rocks, and natural plantings along the shoreline are all part of the Mill Pond project.
The DNR is scheduled to come to Jordan to restock fish in the pond between 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m., and the public is invited to watch state officials do their work.
