Here's what's been going on in and around New Prague lately, according to the New Prague Times:
- A proposal for the final plat and an 8-foot-by-12-foot addition to the Knights of Columbus Hall in New Prague passed with city council approval, despite opposition from city staff.
- The New Prague school district's proposed budget shows just shy of $30 million in expenditures.
- New Prague High School's Rachel Sailor and Bianca Najera made the all-state band and Brandon Delbow made the all-state orchestra. Sailor plays the oboe, Najera the flute, and Delbow the trumpet.
- On page 1, the Times ran an interesting photograph of a Oldsmobile driven by Jessica Monnens, 19, of New Prague trapped under a semitrailer. Both vehicles had attempted to make right turns at the intersection of highways 13 and 19.
- An auditor allegedly caught a New Prague city employee who "enhanced personal payroll," the Times reported. That employee has been asked to resign.
- Coburn's Superstore opens May 7. McMahon Snyder Drug's pharmacy is preparing to close May 6.
