Here's what's been going on in and around New Prague lately, according to the New Prague Times:
- Police are seeking information about the what appears to be the drowning death of a dog that went missing from New Prague earlier this month. Last weekend, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources found a beagle submerged in a channel near Cody-Phelps Lake in Rice County, southeast of New Prague. - Craig Menozzi agreed to terms with the New Prague school district to become its new superintendent, starting on July 1.
- By this summer, volunteers plan to make a railroad museum on a plot of land in Helena Township into a tourist attraction and "family destination," said Chuck Tuma, vice president of the museum. The headline in the Times: "Gopher State Railway Museum is right on track." Get it?
- Former Speaker of the Minnesota House Robert Vanasek of New Prague has been appointed honorary consul for the Czech Republic for Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
- New Prague's annual cleanup dates are April 25-28 for the south side (Le Sueur County) of town and May 2-3 for the north side (Scott County) of town.
