Who doesn't love a messy breakup?

"Who doesn't love a messy breakup?"

Those words were actually uttered on ESPN a minute ago. I can't believe it, and I am so offended.

Imaginary tournament brackets are a regular feature of ESPN, one of my favorite sports TV channels. Normally, the brackets feature debates about the greatest sports moment or something to that effect.

My disgust with today's bracket took only about 6 seconds, as the clowns on this painfully tongue-in-cheek feature show explained their Famous Breakups bracket. Sonny and Cher, Paul McCartney, and other non-sports stars made appearances. Some of them had to do with marriages -- and that became starkly clear right away.

Breakups of marriages are not funny, even if it involves Britney Spears and the latest drunken wedding. I'm sick of all of the TV shows that joke about broken relationships, loneliness, overdependence on one another, and how our self worth can so easily bank on whether we have a soulmate. Marriage is a sacred, religious bond that should not be taken lightly. What do the people at ESPN not understand about that?!?

In airing this bracket on breakups, ESPN acted in a very tasteless manner. I'm ashamed to have watched it.

Disgusting. I think I'm going to puke.
