Here's what's been going on in and around Belle Plaine lately, according to the Belle Plaine Herald:

- Joe Pexa of Helena Township was on the front page of the Herald, looking at plans for the CapX 2020 power line project south of Jordan. High-voltage power lines from Brookings, S.D., to the Twin Cities will not affect Blakeley Bluffs, where Scott County hopes to eventually develop a park.

- The Belle Plaine City Council asked the city staff to submit a request for proposals on a new public works facility.

- The Vault closed its doors. Jim Terwedo, a member of the Jordan Commercial Club, owns the building where the bar was located in Belle Plaine. The owners of the bar were Darwin Goetz and Kurt Laabs.
