State high school league restricts photos

No photos of Jordan’s first-ever volleyball state championship will be available for purchase on dotphoto.com.

Normally, when a local sports team plays, we have photos posted on the Web site within the following week. But during state tournaments, after which most players and their parents would like to have photos to memorialize the important moments in their lives, the Minnesota State High School League does not allow newspapers to sell photos. They have threatened to keep reporters out of the biggest games of the year if the paper does not follow league policy.

This is more than an unfortunate reality. It's hypocritical. I don't like it when people tell the newspaper what to do. They are messing with our business.

Your local newspaper would appreciate it if you directed complaints to the MSHL.

Call 763-560-2262, or send faxes to 763-569-0499. For e-mail addresses, go to http://www.mshsl.org/mshsl/aboutmshsl.asp?page=3 [1].
