Here's what's been going on in and around Belle Plaine lately, according to the Belle Plaine Herald:

- A Laundromat returns to Belle Plaine. It is located in the 200 block of Meridian Street. 

- The Belle Plaine superintendent of schools reached a three-year contract with the district. Kelly Smith will receive $123,100 this school year, $127,700 in 2008-2009, and $132,000 in 2009-2010.

- Paraprofessionals in the Belle Plaine school district reached an accord with the district, as well.  

- Residents of the Lutheran Home of Belle Plaine enjoy playing the Nintendo Wii in their spare time.

- The Belle Plaine school board approved $315,000 in new spending for staff in 2008-2009. Jennifer Johnson voted against the proposal. 

- Voters overwhelmingly OK'd the Belle Plaine Cooperative's merger with Highway Ag. Services of Le Center.
