Here's what's been going on in and around New Prague lately, according to the New Prague Times:
- Craig Menozzi is the new superintendent for the New Prague school district. He's been a teacher, coach, administrator, and principal in Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagan and Lakeville school districts for the past 29 years. "He's performed well at the minor league level, and he's ready to move up tot he majors," Jerry Walerius said, according to the Times.
- Since the smoking ban went into effect, owners of bars and restaurants have wanted outdoor patios approved by the city. New Prague's planning commission granted the request late last month, recommending the city council allow them.
- A new emergency services building, which will be built near the intersection of Highway 21 and Sixth St. in New Prague, should cost $2.5 million, according to recent bids approved by the city.
- Lonsdale officials want to get tough on the owners of blighted properties, going so far as to suggest the city clean up the properties and assess the costs to owners.
