Pawlenty's proposal

I cannot believe that a governor of a state facing a significant budget deficit would put forth a proposal to reduce the sales tax by one-eighth of one cent. His reasons for proposing this are not even close to any type of real solution. First, he is mad at the legislature for overriding his veto and wants to stubbornly stick to his no tax platform. I guess it might make him happy, but that doesn't register as justifciation for such a proposal. Secondly, he claims it will be a stimulus to the economy. A token tax cut will not stimulate the economy and with the rising cost of almost every necessity the liklihood of the money saved being invested in ways to impact economic growth are mimimal. The real solutions to our economic woes are more complex than the old "give 'em a tax cut to stimulate the economy" line of thinking. I am anxiously waiting for the legislative response to these proposals. Hopefully they will be a bit more real!
