A prayer for the new year (from a service at my church):

The leader says, "Eternal God, who can make all things new, we humbly bring before you the record of our lives in this past year. Where life has been good to us, let us give you credit and thanks. Where we have been good to others, help us not to seek honor or reward. Where we have fallen short, forgive us and free us from brooding over what is past. Cleanse us by your mercy, guide us by your truth, fill us with your love and lead us forward in your dreams and hope. Through the grace of Jesus Christ, all God's children prayed ..."

The congregation says, "Amen. Let it be so."
