With all the year-end attention focused on the “best of” 2007 (including the Jordan Independent’s own chronology of last year), I got to thinking about how many things I like best from the last year that never get mentioned. So here are a few of the best things about 2007 in my opinion:
- Album – Sloan’s “Never Hear the End of It”
- Concert – Sloan, again
- Movie – I didn’t see many, but “The Lookout,” “Die Hard 4,” and “Zodiac” were pretty darn good.
- Movie that you know you shouldn’t love but you do anyway – “Hot Rod” was such a great piece of cinematic cheese.
- Day – May 25
- Book – “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” was great. And I am really enjoying my current read, “L.A. Confidential” by James Elroy. The book from this year I’m most excited to read is “The Yiddish Policemen’s Union” by Michael Chabon.
- Sports moment – So far, it has to be when the Green Bay Packers blanked the Minnesota Vikings 34-0.
- TV show – “30 Rock” and “Journeyman”
