Fantasy playoffs

Fantasy sports-wise, it wasn’t my best weekend of the year, but it certainly wasn’t a bad one. While I continue my free fall from the top of the Pick’em leader board, I advanced to the next round in both my Otte Football League and Wooddale Football League fantasy football playoffs.

Tony Romo, my go-to quarterback in the OFL has been slacking a bit of late. As a Packer fan, I’m happy that the Cowboys are faltering, but I need a bit more production from Romo in our OFL championship game next weekend if I’m going to beat the point-scoring juggernaut that is my parents’ team. This is the third year in a row that I’ve been in the league’s final game (and also, coincidentally, the third year that we’ve had a family league).

Tom Brady, my quarterback in the church Wooddale league, also had an off week. But so did my opponent’s starting quarterback, and I was able to pull out a win in that game, too. Next week I face the league leading team in the semifinals for a chance to win it all.

Two fantasy football league championships would be pretty nice, but next week I face two tough matchups.

The weird thing about this weekend is that it was the fantasy position that I routinely belittle – the kicker – that came up big for me in the OFL game. Thanks for that, Packer Mason Crosby!

How are your fantasy seasons winding down?
