The city of Jordan paid its first $109,079 on the Mill Pond project.

With a 6-0 vote on Oct. 15, the city OK'd the payment. Councilmember Sally Schultz was absent from the vote.

Rachel Contracting is working to drain, dredge, and restore the Mill Pond -- located in Lagoon Park in downtown Jordan -- during this winter.

The completed project will cost a total of $833,237.50.
