Jordan will collect $35,000 more in delinquent utility bills this year than the city did last year.
On Oct. 15, the city council approved assessing property owners for delinquent utility, refuse, and fire call bills. No one spoke at the public hearings held on the same day.
"We give them every chance to get that payment in," Finance Director Tom Nikunen said.
This year, the city will assess property owners for $95,000 and tack on about $2,900 in administrative fees.
Per the city contract with Waste Management for collections, the city gets a $25 administrative fee for every resident they assess for delinquent waste removal fees. The city will collect $15,000 and keeps about $3,800.
Three property owners were assessed for a total of $855 of fire calls.
