"When you flooding the hockey rink?" asked Jeremy Goebel during a Jordan City Council meeting tonight.

Public Works Director Dave Bendzick laughed. The rink near the Mini-Met parking lot in Lagoon Park usually isn't open until about Christmas break.

"We can flood it now, but it won't freeze," he said.

Once the rink is open, leisure skaters will share time with hockey players, because the Mill Pond is closed this year. The pond has been dried up for renovations.

After the rink opens, the overhead lights will be on until 10 p.m. daily.
