Another good week for me in fantasy land! After a rocky start to the season, it appears as if I might be about ready to right this ship. And all I needed to do was bench a few of my first round picks.
With underwhelmers like Frank Gore on the bench, the Ocelots pulled out a much needed win in the Otte Football League. It may not have been pretty, and there weren’t a lot of star-making fantasy performances, but my backup players really came through this week. With two of my regular top scorers sitting this week out with a Cowboys bye week, I turned to Cleveland Brown Derek Anderson and Pittsburgh Steeler Heath Miller to win over my rival cousin. I’m not 3-5 in the league, and out of last place.
In my church fantasy league, I now find myself in the middle of the pack after spending most of my season so far at the bottom. Another fine day by Tom Brady cemented third-straight win for the Bananagrabbers (a reference to “Arrested Development,” in case you were wondering). Now my team is at .500 and in fifth place in the league.
And in the football pick’em game hosted by Southwest Newspapers, I’m back in the top two spots after a week at third place. Only two points now separate me and reigning first-placer Eric Krausharm, sports reporter of the Hutchinson Leader.
And to top it all, the Packers came through with another great game when they beat the Broncos in overtime Monday night.
