Here’s a list of the great things that happened both in real life and in my fantasy football world:
- Brett Favre passed Dan Marino on the all-time touchdown leader list – and he has at least an entire season to beef up his touchdown total. Of course, he’s just keeping the seat warm for Peyton Manning, but I’m OK with that.
- The Packers improved to 4-0 with a win over a division rival and inferior team in the Minnesota Vikings.
- Meanwhile, in Detroit, the Chicago Bears fell to a 1-3 record with a loss to a division rival and inferior team in the Detroit Lions.
- The Bears and the Vikings are tied for the worst record in the division, while Favre and the Pack are alone at the top.
- In the Wooddale Football League (my church league), it’s looking like I’m going to win my first game of the season after a strong fantasy day.
- In the Otte Football League (my family league), I’m going to get my first win against my sister’s team behind a great performance by Tony Romo. I’ll no longer be the worst team in the league (that would be my sister’s team), and that means I won’t have to make dinner for the rest of the league owners if I keep improving.
- In the Football Zone Pick’em contest, I’m still atop the Southwest VIPs, even after a lackluster week of picks (I only picked nine correct winners).
I told Molly last night that the only way this could have been a better day is if the Packers were somehow able to beat Minnesota and then immediately fly to Chicago and beat the Bears in the same day. Unfortunately, that just isn’t possible, so I’ll have to settle for an all around great Sunday.
