The Jordan Independent gained an enthusiastic intern this week.

Candice Dehnbostel of Prior Lake will work at least eight hours a week for your local newspaper, as part of her requirements for a community journalism class at the University of Minnesota.

Her first assignment was to cover the Jordan Community Theater's production this weekend. She will also be required to write human interest, entertainment, local government, sports, opinion, and crime stories.

Dehnbostel has an associate's degree in mass communication from Normandale Community College in Bloomington and is working on her bachelor's in journalism at the university. She has also interned at KRDS Radio in New Prague and written for the entertainment section of the Lions' Roar, Normandale's student newspaper.

After meeting with her for the first time earlier this week, I'm excited to work with her and it sounds like she's going to have fun interning here.

Wish her luck.
