Ron Beckman reported the following notes from the Central Plains Division II Regional Tournament:

- Jordan won coin flips to be the home team in each of the first five games before losing
the coin flip in the final game.

- Jordan's team hosts were Howard and Teri Torgerson of Beulah, N.D. Howard is a huge Minnesota Viking fan with a large room painted purple and gold in his basement with a large screen TV, Viking memorabilia, beverage dispenser, and five-seat lounge arrangement. Teri provided cookies to the team after several games. Howard and Teri provided a cooler of
beverages for the team during each game.
Howard arranged for meals, tours, and had answers for any questions. They were terrific.

- T. J. Oakes was named tournament MVP. Oakes had three wins and pitched 17 innings over five days, giving up one run (unearned) on eight hits, striking out 27, and walking two.

- Joe Lucas was named to the all-tournament team. Lucas had two wins and pitched 13 innings over four days, giving up
three runs (one earned) on eight hits, striking out 24 and walking two. Lucas also had eight hits in 21 at bats with three runs scored and three runs batted in.

- Stephen
Krueger was named to the all-tournament team. Krueger had six hits in 13 at bats with nine runs scored and eight runs batted in. As important was Krueger's defensive work behind the plate, where he nailed an attempted base stealer against Burlington in game one, nailed a runner leading off second base in game two against Beulah, was a rock behind the plate, and worked with his pitchers very well.

- Jordan
finished the season with a 35-2 record. An 18-0 record in regular season play including 12-0 in League E play and a 17-2 record in post-season play including 5-1 in
League E playoffs, 4-0 in District 3 playoffs, 3-0 in the Minnesota State Tournament and 5-1 in Central Plains Regional Tournament.

- Jordan
Legion baseball's remarkable run since 2004 adds up to a four-year record of 121-11-1. This includes a regular season record of 63-6-1 and a post-season record of 58-5 including four District 3 championships, a third-place state finish in 2004, three state championships in 2005-2006-2007 and three Central Plains/Midwest Regional championships in 2005-2006-2007.

- North Las Vegas, Nev., was the only team to travel by air. They did have to arrive on Monday, Aug. 13, and their return flight wasn't until Monday, Aug. 20.

- Kansas City, Kan., traveled the furthest, covering 850 miles and over 15 hours by bus. Clintonville, Wis., had 750 miles and nearly 13 hours of travel time. Jordan traveled just over 525 miles with some stops for fuel and breaks was at about 9-1/2 hours.

- Tournament participant Big Stone City, S.D. sits right next to the Minnesota border across the Minnesota River from Ortonville. The team is made up of players from both communities but who play
in the South Dakota state tournament because Big Stone City, S.D. has the more active American Legion post. Coaches
for the Big Stone City team are actually from Ortonville and were in the administration or teaching colleagues of Jordan teacher and baseball coach Kyle Johnson when Kyle worked in the Ortonville school district before coming to Jordan.
