I guess there was a big storm this weekend. Maybe you heard it? I certainly didn’t.
I had a few friends visiting from Wisconsin this weekend, and they all mentioned waking up to a loud storm Friday night. I didn’t hear a thing though – I slept straight through the night and into the morning, almost nine hours.
After driving to the Mall of America earlier in the day and seeing the damage the storm caused, my friend and I (the other two friends from Wisconsin were gone by this point) drove back along Old Shakopee Road through Bloomington to take a few pictures. We shot a few of trees and down power lines.
But a second storm struck Saturday night, and I was awake for that one. On the way back to Jordan, we were treated to a light show of lightning just along the edge of the storm clouds as they rolled over Shakopee. Because my friend has always wanted to try his hand at capturing a photo of lightning, we pulled off to a residential area along the edge of town and started to snap some more pictures. Without a tripod, it was difficult to keep the cameras steady, but we rested them on the car’s rearview mirrors. I tried the same method when we got back to Jordan, but I didn’t have the same luck (the picture is a little blurry).
