I have spent numerous Sunday nights religiously watching my favorite animated family on Fox.
I have spent countless hours watching my favorite episodes replayed for an hour every week night.
So naturally, when the movie came out last weekend, I had to be one of the first to see my beloved Simpsons in their big screen debut.
My opinion of the Simpsons is that the writing has slightly fallen off over the years, but I was pleasantly brought back to the golden years with “The Simpsons Movie.”
The plot line was solid and the jokes were back to their old form.
During the 87 minute movie that plays like a long episode, nearly every character I have seen on the show over the years made a cameo is some way, shape or form, referencing their character’s traits that have been so cleverly developed making the Simpsons what it is over the past 18 years.
Finally, a movie based on a television show that is worth seeing again and again. Any television show that makes a movie in the future should take notes.
I assumed Matt Groening would do the movie thing right, and he did. Thank you for not disappointing me.
“The Simpsons Movie” is fantastic.
It carries a hilarious plot line throughout, lacing the clever humor and stupid Homer tricks Simpsons’ fans have grown to love and expect over the years.
Homer is classic; Bart bares all; Lisa meets her love of the moment, while trying to save Springfield; Marge cusses; Maggie saves the day; the EPA is the bad guy; and Tom Hanks finds his way into another blockbuster.
One question I still have is where is Springfield anyways?
I guess we may never know.
