Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty spoke a ceremony dedicating the state's World War II veterans memorial.
"In the defining moments of this glorious nation," Pawlenty said during the ceremony, "our character, our resolve, and our collective soul have been tested. In those moments, the country asked: Who shall we send? Who will go for us? Our heroes, the men and women in our United States military, always answer that call by saying: Here I am, send me."
Attached below is the text from his speech on June 9, when some 20,000 people -- many veterans -- gathered on the State Capitol lawn.
