According to ESPN.com, the Minnesota Timberwolves had just over a five-percent chance of winning last night’s NBA draft lottery, and winning the right to draft either Greg Oden or Kevin Durant with the first pick. The Wolves didn’t win, but the Portland Trailblazers (who also had just over a five-percent chance of winning) did.
I was sure the Wolves’ luck had to be changing. I thought for sure they’d at least pick in the top three, but I guess luck was not on their side. While picking seventh certainly isn’t a bad place to be, it probably won’t bring the immediate help the team needs to be back in the playoffs next year.
I’ve never been a lucky person. When the odds are in my favor, I tend to lose. When the odds aren’t in my favor, I also lose. In fact, I tried to think of the luckiest thing that ever happened to me, and my mind came up blank. The closest thing to good luck I could think of happened at a concert while I was in high school. The band that was playing (MU330) threw a CD out into the audience. I didn’t jump for it like everyone else, but it landed at my feet.
Lucky, I guess, but not very exciting.
What’s the luckiest thing that’s ever happened to you?
