The Body at SonShine

I think that there is something so special about 20K people coming together for one purpose. Music and Worship. God inhabits the worship of His people. It is part of who God is and there is a part of us that needs to worship the living and loving God. It is part of who we are as humans. We need to worship something or someone. Who is that person or thing. That we worship. The pictures are from SonShine (See the previous entry). The sunsets were when Reliant K was on stage (I think or it Was Audio Adrenaline). There was this just beautiful evening unfolding. The air was cooling and the painted sky was in the west. It was beautiful. Not only because of the sunset. But because of the thousands who were worshiping together. No matter what the church was, we were the church. As it should be, no divisions and no names. Just believers in Christ. There to worship with our hearts and our souls. Music allows the expression of worship. There was something for everyone. More traditional, Rap, Punk, Rockin' with Stryper. Kerry Livgren formerly the lead of Kansas. “Dust in the Wind” now part of Proto-Kaw. One of the finest sax and guitar combinations on Stage 2. There was Ed Fleab of Happy Little Day. A middle aged guy with yellow face paint or should I say. Head paint. He was half clown and jester. Yet with a message that was right out of the Word of God. Strange? Perhaps. If one is considering method, over message. The Message can never ever vary, however, the method of delivery is quite another. At times the church misses the point. Methods can vary. The central message never can. Seems to me, that Jesus used a boat and at times used 5 loaves and 2 fishes, Another time a few lepers and another a herd of pigs. All to prove a point. The point, I believe is that the method can always change, but the message of a redeeming God remains the same. God is always more interested in Love and Relationship with humans, than in the method. Our churches could all learn a bit from the truth. Truth is that bigger, is not always better, nor is small always advantageous. Belief is far more important than all of the numbers and methods.
