Nothing irks me more than having my male friends say "bye-bye" after a phone conversation. For some reason, guys who say that make themselves sound old, make me feel uncool, and generally give me the creeps.

It sounds so feminine. Bye-bye.

Why don't my friends just go back to the old stand-bys:

- I'm outta here.

- Peace, I'm outta here. 

- Later.

- See ya later.

- Check ya later.

- Gotta go.

- See ya tomorrow. (This was used even if we aren't going to see each other tomorrow.)

- Goodbye.

There is just something about bye-bye that isn't right on the lips of a young man. Maybe I am really as old as I feel, if "peace out" makes me feel young again. Hmmm ...
