Green Care earned a one-year extension on its contract for weed control in Jordan.
The company "did an exceptional job for the city," Public Works Director Dave Bendzick wrote in a report to the city council.
Jordan agreed to pay $9,706.25 for weed control in 36 different areas throughout the city's parks. Green Care also did lawn care for the city last year. A $330 increase over last year's cost will cover a treatment for cockleburs at Holzer Park.
"Staff has done an excellent job making sure the park areas are pleasing to the public eye," Bendzick said. "The main ingredient of this formula is the treatment and control of weeds. All city-owned property is treated for weed control, and the main park areas are treated with minimum fertilizer and weed control."
According to Bendzick, the budget breakdown by which the city will pay for services from Green Care include:
- parks, $7,001.49;
- sewer, $1,771.24;
- streets, $516.24;
- water, $282.52;
- and fire, $134.76.
The city plans to earn a 10 percent discount by prepaying the account, so the total cost will be $9,706.25.
