Xcel Energy quoted Jordan officials $110,541 to install streetlights along Highway 282.

That sounded expensive to city staff, so a week ago, the staff requested more time to explore other options. The city council tabled a proposed motion to accept the price for doing the streetlights along with other work along the highway, which is scheduled to be done this summer.

The project will include furnishing and installing streetlights, as well as a 25-year maintenance agreement to maintain the lights and replace any damaged ones.

City Engineer Carol Caron said that a high-priced project like this should be bid out, allowing other companies to quote prices as well as Xcel.
