Two of Sand Creek Township's roads need serious work, officials told fellow residents Tuesday night.
The town board wants to fix Jordan Avenue, since they estimate that driving more than 5 mph is hazardous, especially when water is sitting on the road.
Businesses in the area have requested that Jordan Avenue be blacktopped. Township officials estimate the cost at almost $500,000, but the township's share would be about $100,000. Residents and businesses along the road also would pay assessments.
Overlay work proposed along Bluff Drive would cost $75,000.
"We've got to sit down with the finance people and work this out," Board Chairman Cy Wolf said. The township has "never ever" borrowed money, Wolf said, but recently, it has increased taxes.
The board also identified 173rd Street as a future reconstruction project.
