Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to join over 100 Jordan Middle School sixth-grade students at Wolf Ridge Environmental Education center in Finland (Minn.). With no offense meant to the people I regularly talk with as part of my job, that was one of the best days of work I’ve had in a long while.
One of the activities that every student at the camp gets to try is a high ropes course. I tried it, too. I was strapped into a harness and forced to walk between several high towers on a series of bridges of various difficulty. I’m afraid of heights, so I was a little scared. But the scariest part of all was taking that first step off the tower platform onto a wire or into empty space.
