The other night, I headed over to Radermacher’s to stock up on cold- and flu-related food items in order to stave off the germ onslaught already occurring in my body. I filled my basket with a couple gallons of orange juice and some Theraflu. But I also wanted to buy a few cans of soup.

I’m not a fan of basic chicken noodle, so I usually try to find other kinds of soup. I’m always surprised how many new kinds of canned soup are available every time I go to the store. This time, I picked up a can of chicken and sausage gumbo, some Italian wedding soup (with meatballs and spinach), and a can of hearty tomato with big chunks of real tomato.

The shopping trip got me thinking. If I could make one type of canned soup, what would I choose? I’d probably go with a can of my mom’s chili (with big macaroni noodles) or my dad’s German soup (essentially brats in creamy potato soup). Those are my choices, but what kind of soup would you like to see readily available in a can?
