I'm only going to say this once: I am not a Michael Cuddyer fan.
Everybody's on the Cuddy bandwagon, I know, so this probably isn't the most timely or well-received blog entry. The truth is that now is a great time to trade the guy.
He's coming off an awesome season -- there's no getting around that. But so was A.J. Pierzynski when we made the trade of the century for Joe Nathan, Boof Bonser, and Francisco Liriano.
Cuddy's going to command a big salary next year. We want to keep Johan Santana, especially, and probably Torii Hunter. Money for them has to come from somewhere.
To me, losing our overachieving-for-one-year rightfielder is just part of the plan. I'm going out on a limb here, but it's got to be said. (OK, so maybe this won't be the last time.)
