Councilmembers take committee assignments

Members of the Jordan City Council accepted their committee assignments on Tuesday, Jan. 2, when two new councilmembers attended their first meeting.

Both of the new members complement "our team," Mayor Ron Jabs said.

He recommended a list of council representatives and proposed committee assignments, and the council made only two changes to it. Jabs said he based the proposal on what he knew of councilmembers' preferences, expertise, experience, and council-related workloads.

David Hanson, a new councilmember, represents the council at meetings of the following committees:

- senior citizen community center;

- Scott County transit;

- Ministerial group;

- library (alternate); 

- and public safety (alternate).

Jeanne Marnoff, a new councilmember, represents the council at meetings of the following committees:

- planning commission;

- cable commission;

- and city/township planning and annexation (alternate).

Jeremy Goebel, who was recently re-elected, represents the council at meetings of the following committees:

- economic development authority;

- personnel committee;

- Scott County housing task force;

- rural fire association (alternate);

- developer/property negotiations (alternate);

- senior citizen community center (alternate);

- and Scott County transit (alternate). 

Sally Schultz represents the council at meetings of the following committees:

- community education;

- library;

- parks and recreation (alternate);

- and Scott County housing task force (alternate). 

Barry Ullmann represents the council at meetings of the following committees:

- personnel committee; 

- developer/property negotiations;

- community education (alternate); 

- and cable commission (alternate).

Mike Shaw represents the council at meetings of the following committees: 

- city/township planning and annexation; 

- developer/property negotiations;

- public safety;

- fire relief association (alternate);

- and personnel committee (alternate).

Jabs represents the council at meetings of the following committees:

- economic development authority;

- parks and recreation;

- personnel committee;

- city/township planning and annexation; 

- rural fire association; 

- developer/property negotiations;

- planning commission (alternate);

- and Ministerial group (alternate).

Jabs is also involved in Scott County Association for Leadership and Efficiency (SCALE), the Minnesota Mayors Association, and the fire relief association (a statutory requirement for mayors).

Ullmann serves as the acting mayor, and Goebel is the alternate.
