Josh Chase reports:
A student in the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District has contracted the H1N1 virus — or swine flu — district Communications Director Kristi Mussman said Friday.
The case is the first in District 719.
In a statement to parents, Mussman said the virus “appears to be acting like seasonal influenza” and cautioned them to keep students with flu-like symptoms home from summer activities and camps.
The communications director also said the district was following procedures outlined in the Crisis Management Plan and would continue “to track the latest H1N1 information.”
According to the Minnesota Department of Health, there have been 425 confirmed cases of the swine flu in the state.
