A vigil of hope for the three hikers detained in Iran for 100 days will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at Memorial Park, 1801 Highway 101, Shakopee.
The hikers are Shane Bauer, Sarah Shourd and Joshua Fattal. Bauer’s father and family members are from the Jordan and Shakopee areas.
The vigil is to send light, strength and hope to the hikers in Evin Prison in Iran.

Saying that Bauer's father...

Understood. Her pain is...
Back to page topUnderstood. Her pain is something with which we can all empathize. No one means to discredit Shane's mother.
The JI is a local newspaper, so by repeating the fact that Shane has has relatives in the area, reporters are reminding readers from the Jordan and Shakopee areas why the events are locally newsworthy, as well as nationally and internationally important.
In my opinion, the newspaper that covers Pine City should be doing the same kind of education in your area.
Thanks for the comment, pinecitykid. The opportunity to explain is much appreciated.
