The Shakopee Valley News reports:
Snowmobilers, hikers and others using Shakopee’s recreational trail system will encounter a bridge closure and intermittent trail closures as the Holmes Street pedestrian bridge, just west of County Road 101 in Shakopee, closed for repairs and historic preservation on earlier this month.
The bridge, which is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places, will remain closed through Sept. 17.
Snowmobilers will find the adjoining trail closed intermittently Monday through Friday between 5 a.m. and 4 p.m. Snowmobilers are reminded that they are required to stay on the designated trails in the area, and may not legally access the Minnesota River or County Road 101 in the area of the Holmes Street bridge. Pedestrians and bicyclists will be able to use a marked alternate trail around the work zone during working hours.
In addition to the repairs and rehabilitation work, crews will install ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)-compliant concrete ramps that allow wheelchair access.
The project is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
