The surprises just keep on coming.
After going years without a conference victory in girls tennis, Jordan has now won two conference matches in a row.
The Jaguars defeated Sibley East 4-3 on Thursday afternoon.
“It’s unbelievable,” head coach Brad Ernst said. “I don’t know what to say. We played really well.”
Jordan won two matches in singles and doubles competition.
In singles play, Caitie McBride won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles while teammate Drew DeCorsey won 6-4, 6-3 at No. 4 singles.
Victoria Swiontek and Sadie Read won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.
Morgan Mauck and Sam Growe won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 doubles.
In an exhibition match, Sammy Ryan won 8-3.
“The girls were sky high after the win,” Ernst said. “The passion
they are showing for their team and for the game is unbelievable.”
Not only has the two conference victories improved the Jaguars record but it has helped their confidence.
“They are going into matches thinking that they can win now,” Ernst
said. “Their confidence is sky high. They are all playing great and
playing as a team.”
