Despite widely spread rumors, Highway 282, aka Second Street, is keeping the majority of its canopy of leafy trees. To see a slideshow of the construction project area, go to http://www.jordannews.com/news/church/project-282-it-wont-be-long-107. (Photo by Mathias Baden)

Back to page topLooking forward to seeing the new lights up, it seems so very close to completion now. A quiet second street has been nice however.

Back to page topAccording to Carol Caron's report to the city council, Xcel Energy's subcontractor was supposed to be working on installing the streetlights last week, "but did not show up."
I was hoping the stoplight would be up soon, too. Work has begun on it, though, so that's good.
Wow, it's moved fast, hasn't it?

Back to page topAccording to Dave Bendzic at last night's City Council meeting . . .
Street lights should be going in starting today or tomorrow,
The traffic signal should go up this week, but won't be operational until after the road is opened (sounds like they need some baseline information about truck traffic before programming the computers,
and the final surface (the third lift?) won't go in until this time next year.
He also mentioned that the sod crew is coming, and that all but a couple of minor bits of cement work are done.
If he said anything about trees, I didn't catch it.
Chard Tiling did their part in jig time. Maybe that horsed up Xcel's schedule?
Down toward Mertens, some of the houses have a couple of new steps across the boulevard, and down to the road level, rather than just a flat access path. I'm trying hard to remember if they had steps before?

Back to page topYep, it sounds like the same meeting I was at. Ha, ha, ha. Boy, those steps looked new to me, too, but I can't say for sure. No mention of trees.
